Book Summary
This book relates, with candour, aspects of the author s life as an expatriate wife, in Egypt and Romania, and as the foreign wife of a German citizen in Berlin. Each chapter's theme is grounded on a comment of a friend and will relate what life was really like for the expatriate wives, focusing on the theme introduced by the comment quoted. For example, the chapter titled 'You are so lucky to have drivers and maids at your disposal' will describe the experiences they had with the peculiarities of drivers and maids. The tone of the 20 chapters will be tongue-in-cheek, at times self-deprecatory. Although the book is intended to entertain, it does reflect the cultural differences faced when based in a new city.
